Arrival
A stress-free arrival is the best start to a pleasant stay. If you are arriving by car and have a sat-nav, then just key in our address.
The hotel is situated in the centre of Appenzell, in the Hauptgasse/High Street next to the pedestrian zone. You can stop briefly to unload your luggage, then park at the Brauereiplatz. Alternatively you can reach Appenzell comfortably by train. We are only 5 minutes walk from the railway station.
Route 1, A1 from Bern/Zürich direction St. Gallen:
Exit Gossau, direction Herisau/Appenzell, Appenzell centre
Route 2, A13 from Tessin/Ticino direction Bodensee/Lake Constance:
Exit Kriessern, direction Altstätten town centre, then direction Gais, at junction direction Appenzell, then Appenzell centre
Route 3, approaching from Germany via St.Gallen:
Exit St.Gallen Kreuzbleiche, direction Altstätten/Appenzell, Appenzell centre
If you are travelling by train, change in St. Gallen, Gossau or Alstätten. The railway station in Appenzell is only 5 minutes walk from Romantik Hotel Säntis. If you inform us in advance of your arrival time, we can also pick you up by car.
The nearest big airport is Zürich-Kloten. From there it’s an easy train journey to Appenzell. You can take the train for St. Gallen, change trains in St. Gallen or Gossau, then take the “Appenzeller Bahn” straight to Appenzell. The total journey from the airport takes about 1 ¾ hours.
Parking
The Brauereiparkplatz (nearest car park) is only 2 minutes walk from our hotel just over the bridge above the river «Sitter». There you will find public parking spaces subject to a charge of CHF 8.00 per space, per day.
